News and Press ReleasesGospel Choir Presents Vocal Clinic and A Cappella ConcertPLATTSBURGH, NY __In honor of black history month, the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir presents its sixth annual A Cappella Concert with special guests and a vocal clinic. All students and community members are welcome to participate in the vocal clinic on Thursday, Feb 21, from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Myers Fine Arts Building, room 300. The clinic, which costs $10, will feature special guest Dr. Anthony Leach, Associate Professor of Music Education at Penn State University and member of the Music Educators National Conference, American Choral Directors Association, American Guild of Organists, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America. The workshop will include such topics as vocal technique, musical performance, Negro spirituals and gospel choruses in the academic setting. Clinic participants will be encouraged to join the Plattsburgh State Gospel Choir directed by Dr. Dexter Criss, and the Male Chorus of New Alpha M.B. Church (Burlington, Vermont) for the sixth annual A Cappella Concert on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. in Giltz Auditorium on the SUNY Plattsburgh Campus. Tickets for the concert are $1 with the proceeds to benefit the North Country Underground Railroad Association or a canned food item to benefit the Clinton County Food Shelf.
