59. Ghanian hunter’s shirt, Ghana,
            cloth, bones, medicines, statuettes and mirrors, 40" (101.5 cm)
  Covered with emblems (both visible and invisible) called “basi” which represent the acquired wisdom and knowledge of the hunter, these shirts were deeply personal and were not allowed to be worn by anyone other than the hunter in question. Their story would be known to the hunter and no one else. They oftentimes contained Islamic amulets as well as objects relating to the bush.
