|Art is a lifestyle for me, not just something Iíve become interested in. When I paint, Iím able to express emotions that I simply can not do with words. Painting, for me, is a meditative process that involves a great deal of restraint as well as pleasure. I place strong emphasis on the relationship that I am able to build between the figure and its environment. My process of painting has evolved into a language of personal expression that has many stages. I put a great deal of time and energy into completing at least one study before working on a large canvas, premixing my colors, and painting the image several times in my head before I even begin applying my colors onto the canvas. I consider my palette to be a selfreflection in relation to what Iím experiencing during the duration of the work. I do exactly what I do because it feels like harmony to me; it is my harmony. |
