Oppression, 2010, giclee print, 7 x 7

I produce prints using images and textures collaged together that question our social norms and make the viewer feel some sort of emotion. What that emotion may be, is entirely theirs, making every interaction personal and unique. The human condition is very important to me, and to create this visually is a goal that I hope to portray in all my work. The tool I use to achieve this is the computer, which allows for infinite possibilities and allows for progression of my work. Whether working with color or black and white, I try to make my work impactful and somewhat confrontational. My art is usually images that contradict what we think and how we are taught to think. By doing this, I hope to liberate some from their preconceived notions and prejudices, and possibly bother those who are not so open to self-reflection. Opening my mind and reflecting upon myself has been something very important to me, and is an art in itself that cannot be seen unless through the outlet of someone willing to push their limits and those around them. Larger social issues are what I try to attack, and society as a whole is what I would like to have some influence on.
