René Pierre Allain

René Pierre Allain was born in Montreal in 1951 and has had more than twenty-five solo exhibitions since 1981. Allain is constantly exploring different and difficult media such as steel and plaster to create richly coloured works that re-invent the spatial relationships of the graphic plane, reconciling the abstract with the figurative, the implicit with the explicit. Since 1984, he has lived and worked in Brooklyn and has shown in galleries and museums in Montreal, Toronto and New York. His works can be found in the collections of the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Canada.
