"Texture and layering pull the viewer into what would otherwise be a very direct presentation of the subject. The dramatic presentation perhaps takes its inspiration from the early iconography of the Saints, through to the works of the Renaissance artists. And it is as much a contemporary response to the conventions of photographic realism borrowing effects of skewing light away from naturalism while choosing not to follow its tendency to side-step the complexities of visual representation."
"I have no more words. Let the soul speak with the silent articulation of a face."
