Marion Wagschal

Born in Trinidad in 1943, Marion Wagschal has taught for many years at Concordia University in Montreal. A painter's painter known for her strongly emotional depictions of the human figure, her confrontational approach is tempered by her exquisitely textured, sensual brushwork and subtle subdued palette. Her paintings were the subject of an important catalogued travelling exhibition, "Labeur, Toil", organized by the Université de Sherbrooke and the Musée de Joliette in 1993. Her work can be found in many major public collections, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
