Martin Bureau was born in St. Ubald, Québec, in 1972 and received his BFA degree from University of Québec at Montréal in 1996. He lives and works on the quaint and historically significant Ile d'Orléans, off the coast of Québec City in the St. Lawrence River. He has been the recipient of a Canada Council for the Arts grant and has been the subject of numerous essays and reviews in a wide variety of publications.
Random I and 2 were painted to complete a triptych with L'acharnement, supplying possible content to its twin television monitors and twinning the identity of the spectators in the painting with those regarding the painting. They evoke the descent of an aircraft through the night sky into the cold blue landscape, with the cold light reflected off the snow.
