Barbara Kent Carter

Barbara Kent Carter is Rockwell and Kathleen Whiting Kents' fourth child, third daughter. She is the mother of Tim and Thayer Carter, and grandmother of Molly Carter. Barbara was married to Alan Carter, former director of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra; together they raised four sons. Barbara studied at the Art Students' League in New York during two non-consecutive years in the early 1930s. In addition she honed her drawing skills by copying her father's work. Though her domestic duties took precedence, she made time to sketch the landscape of her home - the Carter family farm in Pomfret and the backyard in Middlebury, as seen in this exhibition. Barbara lives in Vermont.
