“…in 1903 Henri had spent the summer happily painting at Boothbay Harbor, …but when he discovered the more dramatic configurations of Monhegan Island, ten miles from the mainland, he was ecstatic. Rockwell, infected by Henri’s enthusiasm, was eager to go there; he first stayed at Monhegan in June of 1905 and promptly fell in love with it.”
