# 91, Fire on Fifth Avenue , 2000
photograph, 16" x 20"

Myloh Villaronga

I have been told on more than one occasion that choosing to study photography is simply my way of turning my back on reality. For me, creating a photograph that satisfies my own standards is one of my greatest personal endeavors. Reaching that standard sometimes happens, but once those expectations have been fulfilled, a new set of obstacles arise as a result. The truth is that photography must be looked at as a problem. The challenge surfaces when it is understood that the answer being sought changes form through process, experimentation and time. This creates an ongoing conflict between how the final product was originally envisioned and the understanding that the original idea will inevitably change. The only solid conviction to be made after four years of college is that for me, photography is reality.

Plattsburgh State Home Page

The Plattsburgh State Art Museum is comprised of over 4,500 works of art, representing numerous regions of the world, from the ancient to the contemporary. Works are displayed within our three main galleries, an outdoor sculpture park and exhibition areas throughout the campus. These facilities produce over twenty-five exhibitions a year of both a national and regional nature. Expanding upon the pluralistic ideal of Andre Malreaux's concept of a "Museum Without Walls," the Plattsburgh State Art Museum has become an open visual art resource for the College and the Champlain Valley/Adirondack Region.
