Study of Earthly Things I
acrylic and oil on canvas
48 x 36

Art is my greatest teacher and infinite source of transformation. I learned about my previously hidden appetite for color. Art has taught me how to trust my gut instincts and intuitions. Before I was involved with formal art making I did not trust myself enough to listen to those intuitions. Art forces me to constantly look inward, yet it allows me to express my most inner feelings to the outside world. Using the creative process demands that I face and ultimately accept my origin. Art taught me the importance of balance, both in a physical and metaphysical way. Although I feel that I have grown immensely since the first time I set foot in an art class, the creative process remains a mystery to me. One thing I know with absolute certainty is that I will have to deal with the insatiable desire to create forever.
