When asked to write about “what art history means to me” the immediate Miss America response began to fly off my finger tips. After some contemplation and the courage to push clichés aside, the truth is I’m not sure what it is about art history that captivates me.

Art history is a visual documentation of the societal and cultural changes throughout history. The study of art history has evolved from a purely stylistic analysis of art to a cultural analysis by way of art. It is the study of cultural trends and major changes within society, by way of the visual arts, that draws me to the study of art history.
