Art, for me, is finding an area of interest and responding to it. It can be a work done by a master or finding a piece that you detest. Nevertheless, rather than discarding the whole thing, you might end up focusing on a certain area you really react to. I respond to almost everything. I am always distracted by certain qualities in objects and imagery and new information. Iím always reacting to something, whether I put it in my work or not. Whatever the influence is for me, I will always try to capture it in something I do. Even though my mind goes in a million directions, the challenge for me is to develop my own style without bombarding myself with too much information and to try to give myself something to work with. Since there are so many techniques to experiment with, Iím able to explore and test my influences. This challenges me to go further in printmaking.
