graphic element William M. Ruller
oil on canvas
79 x 93”
I want to make icons through my paintings—images that go beyond elegance, beauty or ugliness, but deal much more with a subconscious relationship. I am not simply placing things on canvas, but re-relating and reorganizing the spaces I see.

The images I present are my interpretations of a very abstracted world that cause or evoke some emotional awareness in me. They are not concrete things, just intuitions, and through that I am striving to gain a better understanding of the world. Ideas of the structural world, industry, buildings, steel things that litter the landscape standing juxtaposed to the natural world, interest me.

I want purtiy and complete honesty in my work. I feel as an artist, it is my responsibility to tell the truth and through my paintings I hope to show that to the world.
