Art is a catalyst. Painting is a tool I use to tell a story and to relate my life to the rest of the world. My art is about relationships.
So naturally, people and things that I care about occur quite frequently in my art. I aspire to paint relationships that are symbolic in their meaning to both myself and the viewer.
I chose oil painting because of its physical qualities. I like the smooth brushstroke it allows, and the effects that I have the ability to manipulate due to the medium. For example, the smooth transition that is essential to depicting light and space in relation to a subject.
In my art, I want to challenge my relationships with people and the way those relationships are represented. I want to evoke emotion and thought while depicting a scene realistically, and explore my identity and relationships through my art.
